Extended weekend Covid case count down 10% weekly, ten deaths

Ljubljana - A total of 2,835 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Slovenia from Friday to Sunday in what is a 10% decrease compared to the same period a week ago, fresh data released by the Health Ministry shows. Hospitalisations remained flat compared to last Thursday, while ten patients with Covid-19 died between Friday and Sunday.

According to the Health Ministry, hospitalisations on Sunday totalled 86 patients in regular wards and 14 in intensive care, which is the same number as last Thursday.

Three patients with Covid-19 died on Friday and Sunday each, and four died on Saturday, the ministry said on Twitter.

Data from the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) puts the 7-day average of new daily cases to 1,606, down by seven over the day before, while the 14-incidence rate per 100,000 of the population dropped by one to 1,072.

There are now an estimated 22,694 people actively infected in the country.
