Slovenia to get monkeypox vaccine from EU Commission

Health & Medicine

Ljubljana - The government decided on Tuesday to accept a donation of 1,400 doses of a monkeypox vaccine from the European Commission. The Jynneos (Imvanex) vaccine is the most appropriate vaccine against monkeypox, according to the European Medicines Agency.

The amount of the vaccine Slovenia will receive based on the donation principle of the number of residents in an EU member state.

The government tasked Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan with signing the contract with the Commission, and ordered the National Institute of Public Health to make the necessary preparations to receive and administer the vaccine.

The World Health Organisation recommened in June that healthcare workers be vaccinated against monkeypox.
