Unemployment Rises again after Five Months of Decrease
The increase on monthly level is the result of receiverships and the completion of fixed-term employment contracts, according to the service.
In July 8,790 people registered anew with the Employment Service, which was as much as 42% more than the month before and 19.3% more than a year ago.
Around a half, nearly 4,000 registered in July because their fixed-term employments had ran out, some 2,440 were redundant or had lost their jobs in receivership, while just under 780 were first job seekers.
Over 7,520 were checked out from the service's registry in July, with just over 4,000 finding jobs or setting up their own companies, which was 3.6% more compared to June and 0.5% more than in July 2011.
After a three-month decline in the number of new jobs, the employers' need for workforce increased in July, although it remained below the level from a year ago. Employers looked for 15,375 workers in July, up 18.3% over June and 1.1% less than in July 2011.
In the first seven months, an average of 110,038 people were registered with the Employment Service, 1.2% fewer than in the same period last year.
Compared to the first seven months of 2011, the number of first-job seekers registered with the service was lower by 13.5% and the number of permanent redundancies by 7.1%; while the number of those whose fixed-term job contracts expired was up 6.5%.
