Key power company gets new supervisory board

Ljubljana - GEN Energija, the parent company of the state-owned power group that also includes the Krško nuclear power plant, has got a new supervisory board after the previous line-up was dismissed by Slovenian Sovereign Holding for what it described as a loss of trust over "appropriate corporate governance at GEN Group".

Mateja Čuk Orel, Ivana Nedižavec Korada, Miloš Pantoš, Rok Marolt, Marijan Penšek and Žiga Debeljak were appointed for four-year terms as of Wednesday to replace Ksenija Flegar, Patricia Čular, Jure Soklič, Veljko Flis and Gaber Kontelj, who were dismissed on Tuesday.

In a press release on its web site, Sovereign Holding (SSH) says GEN Energija and GEN Group are facing a challenging period of high energy prices as the government's emergency measures are having an impact on operations of the group's members. It is also looking ahead at a demanding investment drive that would make a major contribution to Slovenia's green transition and attainment of climate goals.

"The supervisory board, in connection with the fulfilment of the expectations regarding the establishment of appropriate corporate governance arrangements in the GEN Group, has lost the trust of SSH, which has thus decided to recall and appoint new members," the release reads.

GEN Energija is helmed by CEO Blaž Košorok, who had served as a state secretary at the Infrastructure Ministry in the previous government until he was appointed to the post in spring this year, less than a month before the general election.
