Pahor reaffirms strong support for Ukraine sovereignty
Ljubljana/Kyiv - President Borut Pahor reaffirmed Slovenia's "strongest support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine" as he delivered a video address at the launch of the Crimea Platform on Tuesday.
He said Russia's invasion of Ukraine was an "unprovoked, unjustifiable attack" and called on Russia to "immediately and unconditionally withdraw its forces and military equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders."
Pahor commended the bravery and resolve of the Ukrainian people and of the country's leadership, who he said were fighting for the universal values of freedom, independence, and democracy.
He condemned the Russian attacks on the civilian population and said all war crimes must be duly investigated and perpetrators brought to justice.
"And let me reassure you that Slovenia will continue providing political and economic support, as well as humanitarian aid and other assistance to Ukraine. We are with you," he concluded.
The Crimea Platform is a forum created at the initiative of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in August last year. High representatives of more than sixty countries and international organisations are taking part in this year's event.
