Roglič loses red jersey at La Vuelta
Bilbao - Slovenian cyclist Primož Roglič of team Jumbo Visma lost the red jersey at the La Vuelta to Rudy Molard of Groupama FDJ. Roglič crossed the finish line of the fifth stage of the Spanish Grand Tour in 23rd place, sliding to place five in overall standings. He was five minutes and nine seconds slower than the stage winner Marco Soler of UAE.
The only other Slovenian in the race, Jan Polanc of team UAE, finished 46th, for the 39th place in overall standings.
The 187-kilometre stage between Irun and the coastal town of Bilbao saw Molard finish fourth, four seconds behind Soler. Daryl Impey of Israel-Premier Tech was second and Fred Wright of Team Bahrain was third.
Changes at the top of the race can be expected as early as tomorrow, when cyclists will leave Bilbao behind to tackle the first mountain stage. The 181-kilometre stage will include the ascent on San Miguel de Aguayo, over 800 metres above sea level.
