Free self-testing kits to be available for uni students too

Ljubljana - In addition to primary and secondary school students, university students will also be entitled to ten free self-testing kits per month in the new school year, the government decided on Thursday under a decree that takes into account the health authority's recommendations.

The self-testing kits will be available from Monday, and the testing will be voluntary.

The decree was drawn up in accordance with the recommendations of the advisory group monitoring Covid developments at the National Institute of Public Health, the Government Communications Office said.

Under the current situation, the group, headed by the country's chief epidemiologist Mario Fafangel, recommends at-home self-testing for individuals who have signs of infection or have been in contact with an infected person.

If the epidemiological situation escalates, the group proposes weekly self-testing that would be mandatory for all students.
