Pahor to receive Czech Jože Plečnik Award
Ljubljana - President Borut Pahor will be honoured with the Grand Award of Jože Plečnik on Friday, the president's office said in a press release. On the 150th anniversary of the architect's birth, Pahor will become the first statesman to receive the architectural award given out by the Prague Castle Administration.
The award named after one of Slovenia's top architects, who renovated the Prague Castle between 1920 and 1934, has been given out for extraordinary achievements in architecture, construction and architectural heritage conservation since 2018.
Pahor will be presented with the award by Prague Castle Administration director Ivo Velišek. On this occasion, Pahor will host a ceremony to honour the anniversary of the architect's birth at the Presidential Palace tomorrow, his office said.
The event will also feature Tomaž Štoka of the Architecture and Design Museum, who coordinated the task force of experts deserving for the inclusion of Plečnik's work in the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2021.
Pahor and his Czech counterpart Miloš Zeman are the patrons of a ceremony honouring Slovenian-Czech relations, which will be held on 13 September and will also feature this year's Plečnik awards ceremony, the press release added.
