Ticket bought in Slovenia wins EUR 11m Vikinglotto jackpot
Ljubljana - In what is the first Vikinglotto jackpot win by a ticket purchased in Slovenia, an individual who felt lucky when passing a kiosk in Ljubljana won almost EUR 11 million on Wednesday, national lottery operator Loterija Slovenije said on Thursday.
After deducting the tax, to be pocketed by the municipality where the winner resides, the individual who hit the Viking jackpot of this multinational lottery will be left with EUR 9,152,440.28.
Vikinglotto is played across ten participating countries: Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Slovenia and Sweden.
In Slovenija, where it is present since 2017, the biggest win so far had been EUR 80,000, according to Loterija Slovenije.
The operator added that it had collected a total of EUR 4.6 million in concession fees in almost five years through Vikinglotto, which helps support more than 500 disability, humanitarian and sports organisations and projects annually.
Players have contributed an additional EUR 2.5 million in taxes to the national budget while also contributing to their municipalities.
