Kyiv - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has honoured four Central European politicians, including Slovenia's former Prime Minister Janez Janša, with a memorial plaque in front of the Ukrainian parliament to thank them for their 15 March visit to Kyiv at the start of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, media reported.

Opposition Democrat (SDS) leader Janša, who at the time served as prime minister, visited Ukraine together with the Polish and Czech prime ministers, Mateusz Morawiecki and Petr Fiala, and Jaroslaw Kaczynski, leader of the Polish ruling Law and Justice party.

The four officials headed for the Ukrainian capital to meet Zelensky less three weeks after the start of the war in a surprise visit to express support for Ukraine in its fight for freedom and democracy. Zelensky said at the time their visit "during these difficult times for Ukraine is a strong sign of support that we really appreciate".

Today, Janša retweeted the office of the Polish prime minister's posting saying that Zelensky had honoured the four leaders with a plaque in the Walk of the Brave.
