Ljubljana - Slovenian health authorities have conformed a total of 1,181 new cases of coronavirus during the weekend, an increase of 36% on the case count the weekend before. Since Thursday five patients with Covid-19 died.

Data released by the Health Ministry on Monday shows 82 patients were hospitalised for Covid-19 as their main condition on Sunday, including seven in intensive care.

Two patients confirmed to have been infected with Covid-19 died on Thursday and one each on the following three days.

On Sunday, 548 people tested positive and on Saturday 633. A total of 2,057 cases were confirmed on Friday, which compares to 1,307 on Friday a week earlier.

The higher figures pushed the 7-day average up to 1,609 and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 of the population to 957, according to the National Institute of Public Health.
