Ljubljana - The party council of the opposition Democrats (SDS) decided on Friday to endorse the presidential bid of its MP and former Foreign Minister Anže Logar.

Logar has collected 5,000 voter signatures and will be formally running as an independent. He intends to submit his candidacy next week.

Logar is one of the frontrunners in public opinion polls, his closest rival being lawyer Nataša Pirc Musar, also running as an independent.
