As many as four people died as the hot-air balloon crashed in flames, while the remaining 28 people aboard all sustained injuries. Last week, the fifth victim died, succumbing to severe burns.

An investigation into the crash is still ongoing. However, initial findings indicate that it might have happened due to low-altitude wind shear - fast changes in wind direction and speed - caused by storms developing further north.

The balloon hit the ground several times, crashing against a tree in the process, catching fire and coming to a halt 117 metres away from the tree, according to a preliminary report on the accident.

Last week, the UKC said that six people injured in the crash remained hospitalised, including four who were in intensive care and two who were under observation.
