Slovenia makes headway in global sustainable competitiveness

Slovenia has climbed nine spots to 9th in this year's Global Sustainable Competitiveness Index, which is topped by Scandinavian countries. The country was the top performer in the economic sustainability subindex.

The , listing 180 countries, is published by SolAbility, a sustainability think-tank based in Switzerland and South Korea.

Slovenia went from 7th to 4th place in the social capital category, covering health, security, freedom, equality and life satisfaction within a country. In governance efficiency, it gained five spots to 9th, and in intellectual capital it was up one spot to rank 20th.

The country also improved its ranking in resource efficiency and intensity, going from 128th to 87th place.

It retained 72nd place in natural capital, the category measuring the given natural environment, including the availability of resources, and the level of the depletion of those resources.

Slovenia's overall score went from 54.3 out of 100 points to 56.3 points.

Scoring 60.7 points, Sweden tops the index for the seventh consecutive year, ahead of Finland, Switzerland, Denmark, and Norway.
