Austrian logistics firm Cargo-partner, which runs a huge logistics centre adjacent to Ljubljana Airport, increasing the centre's surface area from 25,000 to 39,100 m2 with a €12 million investment that will create 30 new jobs.

The Ljubljana Logistics centre can now provide a total of 48,000 pallet spaces and 59 loading bays, Viktor Kastelic, the director for Cargo-partner in Slovenia said at the launch ceremony on 15 December.

The warehouse is temperature controlled and can store oversized cargo. Cargo-partner also offers fulfilment services for online stores.

The logistics centre was built to be flexible with storage systems that can be easily adapted or replaced to optimise operations, said Kastelic.

Cargo-partner first set up an office in Slovenia in 1996 and opened their first warehouse in 2013. The logistics centre near the airport was constructed in 2019 for €28 million.

The expansion was brought forward from 2024 or 2026 to this year due to brisk demand. Construction took 11 months.

The company is already looking for land for future expansions as current capacity may prove insufficient in two or three years.

Cargo-partner says it has invested in Slovenia due to its geostrategic position and distribution possibilities. It currently has 130 employees and revenue to the tune of €100 million.

"The Ljubljana iLogistics centre strengthens our network and long-term professional experience in Central and Eastern Europe and is an excellent base for our growth in the future," said Cargo-partner general manager Stefan Krauter.
