Slovenia's best ski jumper this season, Anže Lanišek finished third in the 71st Four Hills Tournament to become only the fourth Slovenian to podium the prestigious German-Austrian Ski Jumping Week.

Norwegian Halvor Egner Granerud took victory at the last event in Germany's Bischofshofen on 6 January to clinch his first Four Hills title. He had chalked up two other victories and one second spot at the tournament.

Poland's Dawid Kubacki took second spot overall, having placed third in the final event, behind Lanišek in second. The three athletes dominated the entire tournament.

"It's nice to finish the tournament on the podium, even though I had a slightly worse result in the first series," said Lanišek, thanking everyone who has helped him along the way.

Primož Peterka was the first Slovenian to win the Four Hills Tournament in the 1996-97 season and Peter Prevc repeated the feat in 2015-16. Peter Žonta placed third in the 2003-04 season.

Lanišek is currently second in the overall World Cup rankings behind Kubacki. Granerud is in third.
