Maribor was in control of the group J match from the start, opening the scoring in the 25th minute through striker Robert Berić. It extended the lead in the 62nd minute through Agim Ibraimi.

The icing on the cake came in the 88th minute, when captain Marcos Tavares scored from the penalty spot.

Maribor will travel to Rome next week to face Lazio.
