Consumer electronic retailer Big Bang and marketing agency Sport Media Focus are launching what they expect will develop into the biggest festival of video games and e-sport in Slovenia. The first iteration of the Game Gang Show will be held at Ljubljana's fairgrounds between 31 March and 2 April.

The organisers expect more than 10,000 visitors, who will be able to try out over 100 gaming systems. The e-sport segment will offer tournaments featuring the games Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valorant, and League of Legends on PCs and FIFA 23 on consoles. The total prize money will top €10,000.

Addressing reporters on 20 January, Sport Media Focus director Tomaž Ambrožič said that video games and e-sports had surpassed traditional sports in terms of viewership in many cases over the last decade.

Uroš Mesojedec from Big Bang Slovenija said the segment had become of strategic importance for the company. He noted that the total value of e-sports worldwide in 2022 was estimated at €1.3 billion, while it is expected to rise to around €5 billion by 2029.

Sport Media Focus is also planning to expand its operations in the field in the future, the idea being to possibly organise domestic e-sport leagues as well as international competitions.
