Slovenia's best pro cyclist Tadej Pogačar secured overall victory at the Vuelta a Andalucia on 19 February, his first stage race victory of the 2023 season and the 12th of his career.

Having won three of the five stages, the Slovenian UAE Team Emirates rider finished in the peloton on the final stage.

The final tally saw him finish 1 minute and 23 seconds ahead of Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious) and 1 minute 28 seconds on Landa's teammate Santiago Buitrago.

Pogačar also took home the points jersey.

"It was really great. We did a perfect job through the week. I'm super happy with my form and with the form of the team," Pogačar said after the win.

"I'm maybe a little bit surprised about the result, but I knew that my level is good. I felt really strong in this race, and I hope I can feel as strong in the next races," he said.
