"We need a serious commitment to the European project and also apply a certain amount of self-regulation," Türk said in a short interview with CNBC, pointing to the "cynical" and "not necessarily well-founded" reporting on the euro crisis in English-language media.

The interview was part of CNBC's coverage of the European Central Bank meeting which is taking place in Brdo pri Kranju today.

The short report on Slovenia pointed to the troubles in the banking sector, falling credit ratings and hampered attempts at structural reform. CNBC added there is a "feeling of a dejavu" in things that are happening in the country.
