Slovenia's Ema Klinec has become the first woman ski jumper to surpass the 200-metre mark in an official competition, landing at 203 metres at the Vikersund ski flying hill in Norway during training on 18 March.

Klinec was reserved in the first series as the jumpers tried a ski flying hill for the first time, landing at 172 metres. In the second series the Slovenian landed at 203 metres to set the world record, which has since been surpassed.

In the last series, the 200-metre mark was also surpassed by Maren Lundby of Norway (212.5 metres), after which favourable wind conditions helped Alexandria Louitt of Canada to land at 222 metres for the new world record for women.

Klinec was very close to this mark in the last series, landing at 221 metres while gaining considerably more points that Louitt because she started from a lower ramp.

"What can I say? A very, very nice test of the flying hill and the first official and historic ski flying event for women. I really enjoyed it. Today was really great," Klinec said.

Slovenia head coach Zoran Zupančič noted that Klinec's last jump was "30 points better than the world record. Congratulations indeed. She did a really, really good job today."
