Turk said the countries should examine the implementation of their agreement on cultural, scientific and educational programme of exchange.

He noted that the University in Maribor had been offering Persian language lessons, while the ambassador expressed the wish that Persian would be taught also at the University in Ljubljana, the Ministry for Education, Science, Culture and Sport said in a press release.

Turk was acquainted with an initiative of the Iranian Embassy for organising a week of the Iranian culture in Slovenia, which could be held in the spring.

The minister also supported the idea that Slovenia should host the third meeting of the Slovenian-Iranian committee for scientific and technological cooperation and welcomed the proposal that Slovenia and Iran enhance cooperation in sports.
