Secretary general of Pergam trade union Jakob Počivavšek told the press after today's session that the compromise proposal brings the solutions on severance closer to the system in place today.

Currently, severance amounts to 20% of salary for every year of employment for those who worked for the employer between one and five years.

For those who worked for the employer between five and 15 years, severance amounts to 25% of salary for every year of employment, while those who worked for the employer for more than 15 year get a third of salary for every year.

The social partners agreed to intensify negotiations and will be meeting three times a week in the coming weeks. What is more, on Tuesday, the coalition is to decide whether the labour market reform will be discussed at government's next session.

The partners have previously already agreed to cut notice period from a maximum of 120 days to 60 days at the most. The proposal in its current form also reduces unemployment compensation to 70% of pay in the first three months after layoff, while currently it is at 80% of pay.
