Internautica boat show back after four years

BusinessEvents

Slovenia's biggest boat show, Internautica, has returned after a four-year absence, bringing to Portorož Marina what the organisers said is a flagship programme that features premieres of a number of sportsboats, yachts, sailing boats and inflatable boats.

While the boats are the highlight, the show also presents nautical equipment, services and clothing, as well as motorhomes and electric vehicles.

The organisers say it was difficult to re-establish contacts after four years, noting that the nautical industry had undergone major restructuring during this time. A lot of the exhibitors are gone because they pivoted to different businesses.

However, on a global scale the nautical industry is experiencing its greatest resurgence ever, says boat designer Japec Jakopin.

This is important for the Slovenian nautical industry, which according to him generates €150 million in revenue and employs between 1,200 and 1,400 people.

This year's fair has an environmental note to it, as it will present novelties in sustainable mobility, feature an exhibition on the impact of plastic and consequences of irresponsible sea management, and award blue flags for the cleanest bathing sites.

The show started on 18 May and runs until 22 May.
