Dušan Semolič, whose ZSSS first announced the protest exactly a week ago, said that the government-sponsored measures were leading to stagnation, recession and poverty.

The pressure on the workers, the unemployed, pensioners and the youth is increasing. Welfare benefits and scholarships are being cut, poverty is increasing and people are being intimidated, Semolič said in presenting the reasons for the November rally.

Apart from the ZSSS, which is the country's biggest trade union confederation, the event will also be attended by the KSJS public sector trade union confederation, KNSS Neodvisnost union association and the Reprezentativni sindikati Slovenije union association.

The Slovenian Student Organisation (ŠOS) said last Thursday it would also join the campaign.
