Slovenia Unhappy with Revised 2014-2020 EU Budget
Among a number of cuts, the draft reduces cohesion funds from EUR 495bn to EUR 472bn. The Foreign Ministry said in a press release that the new negotiation framework does bring some positive changes in cohesion policy, which improve Slovenia's position a little, however not as much as expected.
Although the document does include some concrete numbers, much remains unclear. The revised budget has already been rejected by the Commission on Tuesday, a day after it had been revealed.
The 2014-2020 EU budget is to be discussed at the next EU summit scheduled to start on 22 November. The event is expected to last as long as a political agreement on the seven-year budget is reached.
