According to the minister, the damage on buildings is estimated at EUR 15m, on national roads at EUR 32m and on rivers and creeks at more than EUR 100m.

The figures exceed those from the devastating floods in 2010.

The report on the damage, prepared by the Defence Ministry, is to be on the government's desk before Thursday's regular weekly session.

Hojs said his ministry would today give out all it can to help people - clothes, blankets, dryers, but he stressed that this would not suffice.

The reserves are not very big due to the economic situation the country has found itself in, he noted. But he said he would propose to the government that for starters some funds be transferred to those hit the hardest, including individuals, through Red Cross and Caritas, so that they could get the money in a week or so.
