Polls Predict Tight Run-Off Between Türk, Pahor
A poll commissioned by the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija gave Türk 30%, Pahor 25% and Milan Zver 17%, while polls run by Delo and Večer gave Türk 34% and 25%, Pahor 27% and 21% and Zver 18% and 17%.
Meanwhile, a poll by the School of Advanced Social Studies (FUDŠ) favours Pahor (31%) ahead of Türk (28.5%) and Zver (14.2%). Between 21% and 25% of those questioned are still undecided.
Igor Oman from polling company Episcenter, warned that trends might play a decisive role in the election. Türk lost about 15% since August and it would not be surprising if the Sunday elections bring him and Pahor neck-a-neck, he said.
But Andraž Zorko from polling agency Valicon doubts that much can change in the last moment as voters are more or less decided. Even the election debates this week cannot influence the outcome by more than two or three percentage points, he said.
Since frontrunner Türk is unlikely to garner over 50% of the ballot this Sunday, voters will probably return to the polls in December to decide between him and Pahor in what will be a close call with supporters of Zver and undecided voters playing a significant part.
