The Krvavec ski resort has been declared Slovenia's best by the global World Ski Awards programme for the eighth year running.

Located a spitting distance from the capital Ljubljana, Krvavec is a hugely popular resort. This year it will launch the season with a new six-seater ski lift.

"We are looking at a historical season because a new, heated six-seater will be taking skiers up to the top of Zvoh," the resort operator RTC Krvavec said on 20 November, referring to the top of the ski resort.

"Snow cannons are ready and we are waiting for low temperatures and natural snow," it added in a press release.

Janez Janša, director of the Krvavec resort operator, recently told TV Slovenija that the skiing season at Krvavec is planned to start on 1 December or a week later, depending on snow.

World Ski Awards also gave out awards to best ski hotels. The Ramada Resort Kranjska Gora won the best ski hotel title and the Jasna Chalet Resort, also in Kranjska Gora, was named the best ski chalet in Slovenia. Meanwhile, the title of the best boutique hotel went to Rozka, a hotel at Krvavec.
