Slovenians ushered in the New Year at dozens of celebrations in major cities. Despite sporadic rain, thousands turned up to see performances by bands. In Ljubljana there were four venues each catering to different music tastes.

Most cities eschewed fireworks, Ljubljana was among the few that did not.It had a five-minute fireworks from the castle, though the rockets were made of biodegradable materials.
