Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar has launched her own podcast series where she plans to interview eminent Slovenians and guests from abroad. The podcast is aimed at both Slovenian and international public.

"I think it's important to expand the horizons of everyone in Slovenia with the help of knowledgeable people," Pirc Musar said in the introduction to her first podcast, which aired on 15 January morning.

She hopes to "raise topics to be able to openly discuss what we are doing wrong as a society and in particular what to do to make things better for all of us," she said.

Her first guest was Reneta Salecl, one of Slovenia's best known philosophers. They talked about life in an era of identity crises, and the selfless solidarity on display during crises and catastrophes.

The podcast, called Moč Besede (The Power of Words) is initially available on the president's Youtube channel and will later be added to other podcast platforms. It is subtitled in English.

Pirc Musar is no stranger to media. She started her career as a journalist, spending six years as a reporter and anchor of the central news show at public broadcaster TV Slovenija and five more as a news anchor at POP TV.
