30 Slovenian Theatres to Join European Theatre Night on Saturday
Like last year, the Glej theatre will play the role of moderator in Slovenia. Marko Bulc of the theatre said that Glej was a link connecting the public institutes to non-governmental theatres and that the purpose of the project was to present the work of both.
Apart from Glej and SNG Drama, Prešernovo gledališče Kranj, Lutkovno gledališče Ljubljana, Plesni teater Ljubljana, KUD Transformator, Slovensko ljudsko gledališče Celje, Mini teater, SNG Nova Gorica and Šentjakobsko gledališče Ljubljana are among the participants.
This year, the Slovenian minority theatre in Trieste SSG will also take part by staging a play by Vinko Möderndorfer "Vaje za tesnobo" (Anxiety Exercises).
The festival will start already in the morning with a performance by puppet theatre Lutkovno gledališče Maribor "Volk in kozlička" (The Wolf and the Kids) and draw to a close at midnight with a performance by group Rdeči kabaret (Red Cabaret) at the Metelkova counter culture centre.
The first European Theatre Night took place in October 2008 at the Public University Dubrava - Children's Theatre Dubrava in Croatia's Zagreb and at the Sibenik Theatre.
This year Austria, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, France and Slovenia are taking part in the project which started in Croatia in an attempt to put theatres in the focus of debates and socializing.
