The system, a public-private partnership between the City of Ljubljana and outdoor advertising company Europlakat, was launched in mid-2011 with 300 bicycles and 29 stations in the wider city centre.

The operator of the system says usage has been in line with plans, with no major damage to bicycles aside from regular wear and tear.
