Track and field athlete Lia Apostolovski won bronze in the high jump event at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow in what is Slovenia's seventh medal at these international competitions. She equalled her personal best with a jump of 1.95 metres.

Australia's Nicola Olyslagers won gold with a jump of 1.99 metres and Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh (1.97 metres), who won the title two years ago, finished second.

"I'm so happy. My dreams have come true," Apostolovski said before the medal ceremony. She later added that this was a perfect ending to a perfect indoor season. "I won a medal at my first World Athletics Indoor Championships."

When she attempted to achieve a jump of 1.97 metres, leg cramps appeared, and the Slovenian athlete had to go through rounds of suspense while the rest of the competitors tried to secure a podium finish.

All of them having failed in their pursuit, Apostolovski's bronze medal and her first world championship podium became reality.

The 23-year-old currently ranks 10th in the women's high jump world rankings. She is the daughter of Sašo Apostolovski, a former high jump national record holder.

The only Slovenian woman high jumper who has so far bested her on the all-time rankings is Britta Bilač, a former European champion who performed a jump of 2 metres in 1994.

Slovenian pole vaulter Tina Šutej, who won bronze at the previous World Athletics Indoor Championships, will miss out on this year's due to injury.
