The eyes of basketball fans in Europe are on Slovenia

The teams will be divided into six pots; Slovenia will sit in the second along with Lithuania, Greece and the UK, which means these are the teams the home line-up will not play in the opening round between 4 and 9 September 2013.

The balls will be pulled out by three Slovenian championship ambassadors Rašo Nesterović, Ivo Daneu and Peter Vilfan, as well as Aljoša Žorga, Aleksader Volkov, Ibrahim Kutluay and Jorge Garbajosa.

The first pot will feature Spain, France, Russia and Macedonia; the 3rd Italy, Croatia, Germany and Montenegro; 4th Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina; 5th Georgia, Belgium, Latvia and Turkey and the 6th the Czech Republic, Serbia, Israel and Sweden.

The first act of the Eurobasket will be held in the big Concert Hall, which can accommodate 650 people. The event will also include a presentation of the championship mascot and anthem as well as the first ever match to be staged in a natural cave.

The event will be attended by VIP guests from Slovenia and abroad, including the mayors of the four cities to host the championship (Ljubljana, Celje, Jesenice, Koper), Sport Minister Žiga Turk, FIBA officials as well as European basketball legends Arvidas Sabonis, Dino Menenghin and Aleksander Petrović.
