A small stony beach on the Slovenian coast has been named among the best in the word by Big 7 Travel, a global travel advice website.

Moon Bay is located in the Strunjan Nature Reserve between Strunjan and Izola, and can only be reached by foot.

It is an undeveloped beach with no amenities at the foot of reddish cliffs that gradually transition into olive groves and vineyards.

Big 7 Travel, which ranked it in 3rd place on its Top 50 list, says that it may not boast the tropical breeze of the Caribbean but is "jaw-droppingly beautiful".

"Thanks to its remote location and protected status, you're likely to have the whole place to yourself too.

"Take in the sweeping Adriatic views on one of several hiking trails that wind through the reserve or simply lounge in the sunshine," the website says.
