Roglič will compete in the Vuelta
Slovenian rider Primož Roglič will race in the Vuelta a Espana, having recovered from an injury that forced him to abandon the Tour de France last month, his team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe announced on 12 August.
Roglič, a three-time Vuelta winner, has been out of action since withdrawing from the Tour de France after a crash in the 12th stage. He later revealed on social media that his injury was spinal fracture.
The 34-year-old said on Instagram at the end of July that he was slowly getting back on the bike.
According to his team, Roglič has "been preparing for the start of the Vuelta and recently spent two-and-a-half weeks in an altitude camp".
The last of the cycling's three Grand Tours of the year starts in Lisbon on 17 August with a 12-kilometre individual time trial.
Roglič will be joined in the team by Aleksandr Vlasov, who has also been out of action since leaving the Tour de France due to an ankle injury sustained in Stage 9, and Dani Martinez, who finished second at the Giro d'Italia earlier this year.
Tadej Pogačar, the Slovenian UAE Emirates superstar, won both the Giro and the Tour this year, but will not compete in the Vuelta.
