Slovenia will send post-flood emergency aid units and material aid worth up to €600,000 to countries of Central and Southeastern Europe that were hit by devastating floods in the last few days, the government has announced.

Slovenia will send the aid through the EU mechanism. It will dispatch up to five post-flood emergency aid units, the government wrote on X on 17 September.

According to the Defence Ministry, Slovenia will dispatch 260 dehumidifiers to the Czech Republic on 18 September.

The Slovenian Red Cross is collecting financial aid for all the countries affected by Storm Boris. It has already sent €25,000 to the Red Cross organisations in Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania from its solidarity fund.

The government had already promised in the previous days to respond without hesitation if any of the affected countries asked for aid. "We still remember their help," after the catastrophic floods that hit Slovenia in August 2023, the government said at the weekend.

The same pledge has been made by President Nataša Pirc Musar as she assured Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Romania that they will have Slovenia's support. "We will fight against the impact of climate change, united in our commitment to protect nature," she wrote on X.
