Orban is scheduled to meet senior Slovenian officials, starting with his host, PM Janez Janša, in the morning and followed by Parliamentary Speaker Gregor Virant and President Danilo Türk in the afternoon.

Janša will also host an official lunch for his Hungarian opposite number.

According to Janša's office, the visit will be aimed at deepening the relations between the two neighbouring countries and strengthen economic cooperation.

Janša and Orban are due to sign a framework agreement on the development of cross-border road links.

The talks are also likely to touch on the funding of the Slovenian community in Hungary. It is estimated that the Slovenian community in Hungary has around 5,000 members. Although the Hungarian minority in Slovenia is of similar size it is much better funded.
