As winter schedule came into force in air traffic on 27 November, passengers from Ljubljana airport will be able to fly to 16 destinations on scheduled flights until 29 March. While this is two fewer than last winter, there will be more flights to Munich and Zurich, major hubs for Slovenian travellers.

The scheduled routes will be operated by 14 airlines, the airport operator, Fraport Slovenija said.

Lufthansa will increase its weekly flights to Munich from seven to ten, in addition to serving Frankfurt twice a day.

Swiss will boost its flights to Zurich from 11 to 14 per week, and it will introduce more convenient early morning departures to improve flexibility and connectivity for onward journeys.

AirBaltic will operate twice-weekly flights to Riga, Air France will have a daily service to Paris, Air Montenegro three weekly flights to Podgorica, Air Serbia 16 flights per week to Belgrade and two to Niš, Brussels Airlines four weekly flights to Brussels, and EasyJet four weekly flights to London Gatwick.

Other routes include Flydubai's daily service to Dubai, LOT Polish Airlines' six weekly flights to Warsaw, Luxair's twice-weekly flights to Luxembourg, Transavia's three weekly flights to Amsterdam, Turkish Airlines' twice-daily service to Istanbul, and Wizz Air's three weekly flights to Skopje.

Ljubljana Airport recorded 1.135 million passengers in the first nine months, a year-on-year increase of 17%. However, it expects growth to slow in winter because Slovenia is a seasonal destination with lower winter demand for flights.

By the end of the year Fraport Slovenija expects the number of travellers to exceed 1.4 million, roughly 92% of the pre-pandemic level.
