Small spa embarks on major expansion
Terme Snovik, a small spa close in north-central Slovenia, is embarking on its biggest expansion to date, a four-star hotel that comes with a price tag of €22 million.
Located close to Kamnik, 40 kilometres northeast of Ljubljana, the spa currently provides accommodation in eight apartment houses and a holiday camp. The planned Kneipp NaturHotel with 72 rooms will significantly increase capacity.
Just like their other facilities, the hotel will be designed in the spirit of sustainability and Sebastian Kneipp's philosophy, the healing pillars established by one of the forefathers of the naturopathic movement.
The four-storey building will also house a restaurant, a cafe, massage rooms, a hair salon, health facilities and a fitness centre. There will also be a venue dedicated to wine, a shop, and a children's playroom.
The hotel's wellness area will feature a swimming pool, a whirlpool and three saunas, as well as a new addition to the existing wellness complex with thermal water.
At the groundbreaking ceremony on 26 November, with Terme Snovik director Katarina Adam said the new hotel will be a centre of wellness, relaxation and well-being and beneficial to the local community.
She is confident that it will help extend the tourist season, raise Kamnik's profile as a green destination and strengthen cooperation with local suppliers.
What is one of the biggest investments currently under way in the Kamnik municipality will bring major economic and tourism benefits for the region, Mayor Matej Slapar said.
The hotel is scheduled for completion in 2026.
