Dončić out for at least a month
Slovenian NBA superstar Luka Dončić is likely to miss several weeks of play after straining his left calf during a Christmas Day fixture between his Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Dončić exited the game in the second quarter after appearing to suffer a non-contact leg injury, limping to the sideline and into the locker room as play continued. The Mavericks lost the game 105:99.
ESPN journalist Shams Charania reports that Dončić will be re-evaluated in a month after he underwent an MRI and received multiple opinions on the injury.
Dončić, a five-time All-Star, has already missed eight games this season due to multiple injuries, including a right knee contusion, a right wrist sprain and a left heel contusion.
His absence from court means that he will not be in consideration for most valuable player since this requires players to star in at least 62 games for at least 20 minutes.
Dončić is the Dalles Mavericks' most valuable player. He has averaged 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists so far this season.
