Football: Maribor Hammered by Lazio
Despite support from the near capacity crowd, Maribor only managed a single late goal through Marcos Tavares in the 84th minute, while the Italian team dominated the turf throughout the game.
After missing a goal attempt in the 2nd minute, the Rome squad went into the lead in the 16th minute through Libor Kozak. The other three goals were scored by Stefan Radu (33rd) and Sergio Floccari (38th and 51st).
Commenting on the match, Maribor's coach Darko Milanič said: "We rarely play against a team with three defenders, we had a problem there. This was followed by shocks: the first, second, third goal, we just couldn't pull ourselves together."
Maribor are bidding their farewell to Europa League (Group J) with a home win against Panathinaikos, a home tie against Tottenham Hotspur and four defeats.
Last year they only managed so secure one point in group H, where they played Birmingham, Braga and Brugge.
