Ljubljana outdoor food market opens for 13th season
Ljubljana's popular outdoor food market has opened for its 13th season, attracting an enthusiastic crowd eager to sample Slovenian and international cuisine to the Pogačar Square next to the central market.
The organizers promise Open Kitchen to deliver even more variety this year with more than 65 vendors featured to serve over 280 different dishes.
Some of the new additions include Greek Taverna Lyra, the haute cuisine establishment JB Restaurant, and Žmoht, which will move from the outskirts to the city centre to serve street food dishes and seasonal menus.
Langoš Atelier from Lendava will entice foodies with innovative interpretations of the popular Prekmurje dish langoš, while Pronto! Focacceria will be offering Italian sandwiches.
Weather permitting, Open Kitchen takes place every Friday from 10am to 9pm from spring to late autumn.
The travelling food market will also visit other cities around the country, including Ptuj, Nova Gorica, Slovenj Gradec, Izola, and Novo Mesto, with additional locations to be revealed in the coming months.
This season marks a significant milestone for the organizer as it celebrates its 300th event in Ljubljana and 400th in Slovenia.
"This is a huge achievement for us, and we are truly proud of this moment. The dedication and hard work of our team and all participating restaurants have made Open Kitchen events, both in Ljubljana and when visiting towns in Slovenia, an unforgettable experience," said Lior Kochavy, the founder and creative force behind the project.
