However, Slovenia recorded the biggest increase in construction works in the EU in September, when the sector gained 14.8% over the year before.

In the EU, the construction sector on average shrank by 4.4% year-on-year in October, while the average decline in the eurozone was 4.1%.

Slovenia's decline was followed by Germany's, where construction works dropped by 5.3% year-on-year, while the sector grew the most in the UK (by 11.7%).

On the annual level, Eurostat's data show a shrinking construction sector in 12 countries and growth in only three. In this respect, Slovenia recorded the second biggest decline (-15.5%) after Portugal (-19.1%) and ahead of Slovakia (-12.8%).
