According to the office, foreign tourists accounted for EUR 2.09bn or 64% of the total spending in tourist consumption, with one-day visitors accounting for 63% of the total spending by foreign tourists in Slovenia.

Tourists spent 46% on tourism-based products, while 54% went for other products and services, especially in retail and fuel sales.

Most of the one-day visitors from abroad came to Slovenia for shopping, visits to hospitality facilities and gaming centres near the border.

When the indirect effects of tourist consumption is factored in, the contribution of tourism to the country's economy is calculated at EUR 3.02bn or 8.5 of GDP.
