Volkswagen Golf won over four other finalists: Ford B-Max, Renault Clio, Hyundai i30 and BMW 3 Series, according to the organisers.

The Slovenian car of the year award has been given out every year since 1993. Volkswagen has been the most successful car maker, winning the award five times since 2000.
