First Talks about New Government?

The meeting would serve to "exchange views on the complex situation", find points of common interest and "clarify possible obstacles on the path to cooperation," the interim PS leader, MP Alenka Bratušek, said in the letter released on Thursday.

She stressed that the letter was motivated by "the desire for well-meaning and constructive cooperation by our party's new leadership."

The letter comes a day after the Citizens' List (DL) left the coalition. The Pensioners' Party (DeSUS) and People's Party (SLS) have said they would follow suit if Janša does not resign.

Reports suggest that the renegade trio had held talks about possibly forming a new coalition, but they would join forces with the PS only under the condition that Zoran Janković, who was provisionally suspended as the PS leader, completely withdraw from the party and step down as the Ljubljana mayor.
