Despite them Jerry has proved that mind matters over body and became the best downhill racer in Slovenian history. The 34-year-old skier from Tržič had his greatest success in Garmich-Partenkirchen in 2007 and in Bormio in 2009, where he defeated the world's downhill elite.

He reached the World Cup podium on two other occasions and has been placed in the top ten 23 other times. Three appearances in the Olympic Winter Games and five in the FIS World Ski Championships have made him one of the most experienced Slovenian skiers and this experience has been passed to a younger generation of downhill and super-G skiers. Jerry is responsible for the renaissance of Slovenian skiing in speed events and for the fact that his country has become one of the most important powers in these events.

On a press conference Jerry said: "As I said many times before: As long as I'll feel the joy in this sport and until I'll feel to be able to achieve great results, I'll stick to this sport. If you don't feel that, you have to stop. I had a privilege to be involved in this sport, to do what makes you happy and what you're passionate about. Most people dream of this, I had the opportunity to do it."
