Enviromental Taxes Reaching 3,5% GDP
Energy taxes (including fuel) rose by 23.61% in the period and taxes on the use of natural resources went up by 6.95%, whereas taxes on transport (excluding fuel) and pollution taxes fell by 17.42% and 11.57%, respectively.
The economic sector paid 90.8% of all environmental taxes in 2010, but households paid 83.5% of pollution taxes. Households also paid 62.4% of transport taxes.
The data are the product of a pilot project that set up a framework for regular collection of statistical data on environmental taxes that is in accordance with recommendations by Eurostat, the EU's statistical office.
